Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern, Liberty University

China Young is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern currently pursuing her Master’s degree at Liberty University. She holds advanced degrees in Sociology (M.A.), Communication Studies (B.A.), and Criminal Justice (A.A.), which contribute to her well-rounded and insightful perspective.

Originally from North Carolina and now residing in Georgia, China is passionate about supporting others as they face life’s challenges. Her counseling approach is evolving, but she naturally leans towards a holistic, strength-based framework. Her diverse educational and personal experiences allow her to connect with clients from various walks of life and understand the complex interplay between individual stories and broader social systems enabling a safe, compassionate space where clients feel heard, empowered, and respected.

China’s work is shaped by her belief that life’s difficulties impact us across multiple areas of functioning—but with the right tools and support, people can build resilience, grow through adversity, and experience renewed hope. She brings a warm, down-to-earth presence to her sessions and values transparency, authenticity, and personal growth.

Currently under the supervision of Bettina Lyons, LMFT, China is committed to ongoing learning and to providing client-centered care. Outside of her counseling work, she enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors—two passions that continue to shape her personal and professional life.
